The Park at Research Forest has partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR® program and have committed to help improve the energy efficiency of our apartment buildings by 10 percent or more through the ENERGY STAR Challenge. To that end, we are performing energy audits on our communities and analyzing possible conservation strategies. Whether it is through energy efficient lighting, ENERGY STAR® appliances, programmable thermostats, additional insulation or other improvements, The Park at Research Forest is committed to lowering resident utility bills and reducing our carbon footprint.
Save Money on Utilities - By using higher efficiency appliances, fixtures, lighting systems, and thermostats, to reduce resident power and water bills by as much as 35%.
Improved Air Quality - According to the EPA, the air inside most buildings is ten times more polluted than the air outside. We are making the switch to low odor, non-toxic paints for interior painting, which means your apartment won't smell like a chemical factory when you move in and we can all feel better knowing we aren't polluting the our planet with unnecessary toxins.
Feel Good and Help the Planet - GreenLiving Properties make it easy for you to do your part in helping to support products and practices that conserve natural resources. By saving energy and water, wasting less, and reducing your impact on the environment you are making a difference for you and your family and helping to do your part for the planet.
Here are some of the Sustainable Products that we are using on our property. This includes the use of healthier and more environmentally sustainable products into renovations and maintenance work.
Newer energy-saving bulbs such as ENERGY STAR-qualified CFLs and LEDs, as well as halogen incandescent technologies, can produce the same amount of light (lumens) as a traditional incandescent bulb while using significantly less energy and are being used or replaced as needed in each apartment home.
Valet Trash Service
Valet Waste is truly a SUSTAINABILITY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT company. They have the resources to effectively manage your entire waste stream through waste diversion, recycling, and door to door services thus, having a positive impact on the environment and our futures.
Programmable Digital Thermostats
A programmable thermostat helps make it easy for you to save by offering four pre-programmed settings to regulate your home's temperature in both summer and winter - when you are home, asleep, or away.
The pre-programmed settings that come with programmable thermostats are intended to deliver savings without sacrificing comfort. Depending on your family's schedule, you can see significant savings by sticking with those settings or adjust them as appropriate for your family.
The key is to establish a program that automatically reduces heating and cooling in your home when you don't need as much.
ENERGY STAR appliances
GE ENERGY STAR qualified appliances offer the benefits of efficiency without sacrificing features, performance, style or convenience and are provided or replaced in our apartment homes.
A dishwasher that has earned the ENERGY STAR must be at least 41% more energy efficient than the current 2007 Federal standard.
ENERGY STAR® qualified GE refrigerators are designed to save energy without sacrificing the convenience of flexible capacity, great food preservation and a variety of appearance options. ENERGY STAR qualified GE refrigerators sold in 2010 are 20% or 30% more energy efficient than non-qualified refrigerators and at least 40% more energy efficient than non-qualified refrigerators sold in 2001
Inevitably, in going about our daily lives — commuting, sheltering our families, eating — each of us contributes to the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing climate change. Yet, there are many things each of us, as individuals, can do to reduce our carbon emissions. The choices we make in our homes, our travel, the food we eat, and what we buy and throw away all influence our carbon footprint and can help ensure a stable climate for future generations. Use The Nature Conservancy's carbon footprint calculator to measure your impact on our climate. Our carbon footprint calculator estimates how many tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases your choices create each year.
